As we boarded the plane we noticed we had a celebrity on board, the Hollywood actor Sam Neil. The plane was a pretty small one and on take off it did sound quite a bit rattly. Generally though the flight was ok - the slightly worrying point came when about 30 minutes in and well over the Tasman Sea one of the cabin crew members came rushing down the aisle pushing her trolley with a worried look on her face! As you can imagine Emma got very stressed at this point. The announcement went as follows "Ladies and gentleman.......... is there a medically trained person on board the flight, if so could you make yourself known to a member of the crew" - how exciting it was, Emma breathed a sigh of relief! It turned out an old guy was just having a funny turn.
We landed in Sydney at 8.30am, it was the busiest airport we had ever been to. However we got through customs and quarantine pretty quickly, got on the shuttle and were dropped of at our hostel - The Blue Parrot in the Kings Cross area of the city. This is supposed to be one of the best hostels in Sydney and it did have a nice courtyard but the rest of it needed a bit of attention, we were staying in a 10 bed dorm which was basic. After dumping our stuff we headed out to have a bit of an explore. We had lunch at a place called 'Harry's' - apparently quite a famous place to get hotdogs or pie and peas, there were many pictures of famous people around it.
Later on it got really hot and we were pretty tired after being up all night so we went back to the hostel for a sleep, had tea then went to bed!
