Having a coffee

This afternoon we headed over to Bukit Bintang, or the Golden Triangle, to explore this area of the city.  It supposedly is one of the places in KL where all the hip and trendy youngsters head, designer shopping centres and airconditioned pavement cafes (selling coffee with proper cows milk - not that sweetened condensed stuff).  After leaving the monorail we headed straight for one of these pavement cafes - having had haircuts, Diane doesn't need to worry about the moisture making her hair go all afro anymore.  We spent some time reading and watching the local trendies pass by before having an explore of the two shopping centres in the area.

Close by to Bintang Walk is Jalan Alor, where at night the street bursts into action with food stalls as far as the eye can see.

We headed here for some food.  Just as we did a police truck came whizzing around the corner (along with about 2 dozen police officers on foot) and all of a sudden all the stall holders started to whip their tables and chairs off the road - those that didn't do it at lightning speed had them confiscated (think the police must have been having a function later on) onto the truck.  We were in the middle of all this and had no idea what was happening - we thought a riot must have broken out over the steamed dumplings and just stood looking bemused along with a couple of other westerners.  Eventually all was well and once it looked like the police had gone for the night the tables and chairs slowly returned to the road.  We enjoyed some good chinese food, chicken satay sticks and chicken rice.
