Breakfast cooking nicely on the fire
At 7.30am we got the shuttle from the hostel to the small village nearby.  From here we crammed into a minibus taxi (rucksacks on knee) to Manzini where we located the bus to Maputo, Mozambique and boarded it along with many local people.  We had a tiny trailer on the back which somehow managed to fit the whole contents of ASDA in it.  It was amazing how much stuff was piled in but it all seemed to fit quite snug once it was roped down.  We just  had a small incident along the way when a bag of potatoes fell off - the driver quickly stopped and ran back to retrieve them all.  It didn't seem to take us long to get to the border.  We stamped out of Swaziland and entered our final new country of the trip.
Approaching Mozambique
The entry was done quite smoothly although the officials hanging around the Mozambique side did seem quite eager.  They didn't bother us but we saw quite a bit of money exchanging hands here and there.  Bribe here, bribe there.

We arrived in Maputo just after lunch at a manic transport junction.  Before we had even stepped off the bus we had been spotted and a guy jumped on the bus to find out which hostel we wanted to go to.  A price was agreed and we jumped into a very clapped out looking minivan.  We got to the hostel no problem but it was full so we checked into the hotel across the road and booked into the hostel for tomorrow night.  We got a map and had an explore, found another heavily guarded ATM surrounded by at least 3 men with rifles.  Whilst we were queing we got chatting with a local man who attempted to teach us some Portugese.  It appears that we are going to have to learn this language quickly as everyone speaks it and assumes that we do too.  Hopefully it should only take a day or two to get fluent (hmm).

In the evening we went to a bustling restaurant called Mimmo's, had great pizza and pasta and local beer - and ordered it all in Portugese - well sort of!
