Had a leisurely drive down to Banff arriving about 14.00. We booked into the youth hostel which is supposedly one of the top ten hostels in the world. We couldn't quite see why - we were put in a room for six, cramped Toronto style, with no room to put our stuff. The kitchen left a lot to be desired. The only decent part of the hostel is the lounge area and cafe.
Went down into the town and had a wander - there are lots of shops but its very expensive. Apparently half the town is owned by the Japanese and we think the prices reflect this. Got some groceries and had an early tea, i think we are going to turn into two noodles soon (noodles for tea - again).
Went for a beer in the hostel bar and watched an ice hockey match on the TV - Calgary Vs Edmonton. Ooo its like watching Manchester United Vs City.
Headed back to the lounge area and no comfy seats left. Its definitely not one of our favorite hostels - not enough space. I think we both need to get used to the idea that some hostels are simply going to be somewhere to sleep - if we can do that then we will be ok.
