After another great (and free) breakfast we headed down to Powell Street to get the Cable car, this time we got to hang onto the side for dear life, breathing in when another cable car passed us by. We had a wander around the fishermans wharf area, and slowly made our way to Pier 33 for our trip to Alcatraz, having a hotdog along the way - it could be our last taste of freedom!
We got on the ferry to the Island with hundreds of other people, it has got to be one of the busiest tourist attractions in the States. Alcatraz was as good as expected, the cell blocks and the audio tour being the highlight. Even though it was a sunny day, it was easy to imagine how eerie it must be once the mist rolls in. As we were leaving the Island there was a group of teenagers just arriving for a night in Alcatraz - now that has got to be the best residential ever!
Caught the cable car back to the hostel, got changed and then out for a drink.
