Pedernales Falls
November 28, 2008
Pedernales Falls state park , is located just outside of Johnson City, the hometown of Lyndon B. Johnson. While the town does not have much to offer in the way of sightseeing, the park was a pretty neat little stop. We followed two very short trails one to the river and the second even shorter to the twin falls. My photos of the twin falls are not as impressive, as we went during the dry season. One fall barely had a trickle the other we could not even see a trickle on. The river while low, still was a cool sight! There are other longer trails in this park, which we were dissuaded from taking due to the fact that we have a 3 year old. She no longer fits in those kid back packs, yet is still to little for long trails. We were done seeing everything in about two hours, and that included picture snapping time! The one thing about this park, however is that the facilities and camp sites are very nice and clean. We had originally hoped to camp here, but being Thanksgiving the park had been booked for that time frame for two months before hand. We ended up staying 27 miles away at Canyon Lake, instead. Then drove here on Friday after Thanksgiving for the sightseeing.
