the hike down
About an hour north of Montgomery in Auburn there is a state park called Chewacla, that is totally worth the visit if your into outdoorsy stuff! They have a lake out there which was dammed and where the dam is it created a small waterfall. It is quite the hike to get down to the water and a bit steep especially for short little 3 year old legs. Actually there are two ways down to the water the first trail is the short and steep one which we took down unknowingly! The second trail is not steep and you get great views of the lake this way but, it is quite long! Once you get down to the water however it is well worth it! Of course you need to watch out for slippery rocks and these tiny little leeches that cling to the rocks, and of course consequently to your feet if you stay in one place to long! Besides the main waterfall at the dam there are other smaller cascades formed naturally by the rocks there. I went there with a friend and her daughter, and because of that I was able to go down all the way and take pics from the bottom. A choice I almost regreted because I was not able to come back up the same way that I went down so I had to follow the edge of the fall to come back up, the whole time I was worried about falling and getting my camera wet!
