Caught a bus to Almirante. The bus was decent (Toyota), had room for about 12 people. It also stops for anybody who flags it down on the side of the road. I found it amusing that bus will stop wherever the people want it to including 150 feet past where the last person got off. The trip crosses a mountain range and took 4 hours. Almirante is a very dirty and grungy fishing village (smells like crap and we even seen a sewer rat). From there we took a quick boat ride to the main Island (Colon) in the Bocas del Toro archipelago. This week end is the Panamanian labor day so the town was quite lively. We ended up finding a hotel in twon for $25 a night (it had a private bathroom, TV, and AC all of which are a first for us on this trip. The hotel also had a mold problem (could be toxic?), and smelled very damp and musty. We later found out a bed time it also has a cockroach problem, we already had plans to find a cheaper room anyway. The town of Bocas is full of restaurants, hotels, and bars. The locals are quite poor but they are friendly and dont harass.
