So, I studied abroad for a year in France. Lazy choice on my part since I already knew the language but there's something about all ex-colonized people wanting to see the "Metropole". Nah... not really. I'm from Haiti but seeing France was never a dream of mine. I just wanted to get away from my college campus for a while.
Anyway, I made tons of friends there. Mainly international students (Irish, British, Spanish....) with whom I've been meeting almost every year for an annual reunion. This year's will be in Spain. So, Aase, one of my friends was taking a course in NC for "professional advancement" (so she says lol) for a week or something and decided to to head to NYC for a visit. In case you're wondering it's not pronounced Ass, it's Osa. I went from Boston to meet up with her and we had a blast getting lost in Central Square, taking a two day tour bus in addition of walking and eating ice cream in the summer heat. It was truely a lovely time.
I went back to Boston on Sunday and Aase left on Monday. Before I left she said "I may not do anything on Monday before leaving but I will walk across the Brooklyn bridge". Huh... knowing Aase I didn't really see that happening and of course it didn't. Typical Aase really but we had a blast together and it was a nice slow weekend and I can't wait for next week till we meet again for our reunion in Barcelona. It's going to be a blast.
