So we made it to Guate... after surpsing Lisa at LAX with a quick Mimosa toast to our trip we got to our gate for a quick 5 hr flight to Guatemala City. We landed around 7am and easily made our way through immigration. Somehow we missed the tourist info desk and found ourselves outside with a million cab drivers offering a ride... we were looking to go more of the mini bus (group of people) route to Antigua. So after speaking with a police officer we stumbled upon a guy who had just the mini van-group. At first he wanted $10/ pp but after he told us we would have to wait over 30 minutes for the rest of the group, so then he knocked it down to $8 each.
As we waited by the mini bus for the rest of the group we were getting really hungry and there were a few hawkers selling some good looking food, the chicken looked the best so we coughed up a whloe dollar for a meal that filled up both up and a fresh squeezed glass of juice for another dollar... FYI everything is SO cheap here, I love it!!
After waiting for the group and driving to a few more locations in the city to pick people up we were off to Antigua... this place is really cool (albeight, VERY touristy) but so what! Within 5 minutes of getting off the mini bus we had arrangements for our volcano hike that is in less than an hour... so, I´m going to take a shower and head out.
Next post will hopefully have some photos and a great strory about the volcano!
