Après l’effort, le réconfort (or so...)

Our objective

The Kgale Hill is one of the "attractions" in Gaborone, because here you will not encounter big games, nor there is a major park in the vicinity (unless you count Mokolodi as such).

From the Kgale Hill you will mainly see the Western part of Gabs (short form for Gaborone) and the dam. I undertook the climb with 4 German friends. Apparently, there are like 4 ways to clim the hill; but it seems that we chose the most difficult (steep) one. On the way back we chose another one, which was easier. The climbing took about 2 hours (if I remember right).

In the (late) afternoon, we decided to organize a "braai", a grill party. Braai is the name given to a grill party in South Africa, and which is also adopted here.

Braai is very popular in South Africa; I once said to my friends, it's almost a religion; the latest on Thursdays it seems everybody competes to invite the others to a braai. In a braai, you eat mainly meat, lot of it, and there is a kind of sausage which should not be missing: the boerewoers.

We had uninvited guests to our braai: monkeys, vervet monkeys. Vervet monkeys is the name of what others commonly call as the blue 'balls' monkeys. It seems that it's the common kind of monkeys you find here. I only noticed the blue colour on that day; I was told that colour blue was a permanent one... and not due to some kind of 'temporary' frustration. They came because they were looking for an occasion to grab some food; and one of them actually succeeded in grabing a cob of corn. In some compounds where there are many trees, you often have to take care that you shut doors and windows, especially of the kitchens, because they would unless come and take something (fruits or vegetable), and occasionally leave a mess.
