** WORK IN PROGRESS! ** Set off for Oz two days after my first year at University finished, spent two months working in Sydney with a hospitality agency in hotels & restaurants, then travelled up the East Coast to Cairns for a month, back to Sydney and on to Bangkok for 4 nights. It was...amazing! Definitely aiming to live in Sydney one day.

We're in Continental Europe now...

Landed into Athens roughly on time, picked up the bags and made an effort to find the pick-up point for the bus to take us to the hotel. Admittedly, we had no idea who we were looking for, which hotel were actually going to or where it was.

At this point, we were wishing we'd checked our bags right through to Sydney, but I don't think we could have done this, because we'd be leaving the airport overnight...

Anyway, eventually we were rounded up by an Olympic representative, shepherded onto the ricketiest bus you e'er did see and driven out of Athens on unlit roads to who knows where.

Eventually we arrived at the hotel, which was most definitely not an airport hotel, and also not really 'in' Athens as such! However, it was lovely...5 star, we were pleasantly surprised (and glad we weren't paying for it) and the rooms were very high tech (for the early 2000s anyway!), despite the outside of the hotel being very traditional stone.

The bed was comfortable and that was the main thing. The only thing that was concerning me was that the bath/ shower was about the size of a shoe box with an odd tiled shelf that I reckoned you had to sit on the use the shower.

But, by this point, it was after midnight, and we were being picked up at 8.30am, so I thought it best to go to bed and worry about the logistics of Greek Bathing in the morning! Alarm set and off to bed...
