To start with, I'll admit these dates are pretty much guesses, but I do remember how long we stayed in places, so that's OK!

We left Sydney on the night bus to Byron Bay at the start of August...we couldn't get hold of our 'landlord' in the week before we left, so had no idea how much we owed him for the internet or phone so we left him a note and $30. About an hour out of Sydney on the bus he called and in broken English told us we hadn't said when we were leaving, blah blah blah...not our problem, we'd told him when we knew when we'd be leaving, but couldn't get in touch with him so we did what we could.

Anyway, night bus to Byron, we arrived 13 hours later after a bad night's sleep and a really bad breakfast at a truck stop near Coff's Harbour. (I think) We stayed at a hostel called Aquarius for a night, from which you can see Cheeky Monkey's on Jonson Street. It was OK...a ten bunk room, the shower are was pretty clean (still wear flip-flops/ thongs though) and we were there for their weekly BBQ night, which meant not worrying about finding something for dinner.

Because we arrived early in the day, we headed straight out after dumping our stuff and finding when we could get the bus to Noosa the next day. We wandered down to the beach and spent a lovely day just chilling out and getting some sun. When we got back to Aquarius, we met a fellow St Andrews student and had dinner with him before hitting Cheeky Monkey's for a number of drinks and staggered back to the hostel around 1am - not good considering we'd to get the 8am bus to Surfers Paradise.

Ah well, you live and learn!
