Another day nearer to Oz...

** WORK IN PROGRESS! ** Set off for Oz two days after my first year at University finished, spent two months working in Sydney with a hospitality agency in hotels & restaurants, then travelled up the East Coast to Cairns for a month, back to Sydney and on to Bangkok for 4 nights. It was...amazing! Definitely aiming to live in Sydney one day.

Another day nearer to Oz...

After a good night's sleep, we were up pretty early to get showered and something to eat. As I think I've mentioned, the bath was roughly the size of a shoebox, so the bathroom flooded a little bit when I was washing my hair, but never mind!

Breakfast was amazing - we were really glad we weren't paying! There was a full buffet with lots of feta cheese, tomatoes, olives, smoked salmon as well as the usual cereal, toast, pastries and bacon, sausage and eggs.

Fortified for the next stage of our mammoth journey, we boarded the bus back to Athens Airport, and joined the LONG check-in queue for our flight to Sydney. It was at this point we found out we could have checked our bags straight through to Sydney, thus avoiding the long wait the night before, but to be honest I don't think I'd have been happy leaving my bag in the airport overnight. And to think this was all just a few months before 9/11...and how things changed then.

After doing all the usual airport-type stuff we were in the air again.
