Less than two months to go

Only two more months to go before I leave North America for the first time to travel around the world with a carry-on size backpack for one year and sleep on strangers' couches.

I'm getting so anxious.  I just want time to fly by.  I really want to get out of America and see the world.

I will begin my journey on September 4, 2007 as I fly from my home state of Michigan to Dublin, Ireland.

I will be carrying with me one carry-on sized backpack. I will be posting blogs, pics and vids to this site (but mostly www.WhereisCliff.com) along the way.

My ultimate goal for this trip is to experience and document as much as I can without harming myself or others. I hope when I am done that I will have a new and better perspective of the world and life in general.

You might be asking yourself, "What does he mean he's going to sleep on strangers' couches?" Well, it's called Couchsurfing. It's such an amazing network of good people the world over.

I do not mind spending this money now at my young age. I believe the sooner you invest in a worthwhile venture, the more you will reap the rewards later in life. A lot of people would use the money to purchase a material object, but I hold strong to the philosophy that you only take out of this life what is inside of you.

A big reason for doing this is to appreciate my life more. I have felt disenchanted for awhile now. I believe this trip will be food for my soul, and will help me see my life and others from a new and better perspective.

Another reason is that I have never been overseas, but have traveled extensively in the United States. I would like to see the world and learn more about other cultures.

And, finally, I love meeting new people, seeing new places and eating new food!
