We arrived in Medellin, a beautiful city with lots of nice plazas and gardens. We checked into our hostel after being redirected as there were lots of road works going on.

Medellin is a nice city, although we couldn´t have stayed any longer than we did, simply because we were annoyed so much by sellers in the street and witnessed soome attempting to steal someone´s bag. Also, lots of children and woman begging in the streets, not just those that look in need, but anyone. It was pretty sad really to see, and disturbed me to think these children could be in school and weren´t.

We stayed at Casa Kiwi, it was really nice but very very overpriced. We stayed in a small room with a double bed and they charged us $60,000 COP! On average you should be paying $30,000 for a double room without a bathroom so we were pretty appalled. We weren´t impressed either by a few other things, such as nost places require noise levels to be down by 11am, here it was 2am which meant a very disturbed sleep, and the guy working there when we arrived lit up with some of the other backpackers. Everywhere else we have seen in Colombia have had signs and strictly are against the use of any drug in their hostels, obviously not the case with this one, so we were disappointed with it in all. It was a nice place to stay, but not at the high expense.
