town of dolphins and eal Reviews

the historic town of Harderwijk used to be a coastal town where fishermen went out on the salt water. It was the central marketplace for the area and had a lot of cloisters to provide clergymen. Many historic buildings remain in the centre.
After the closure of the afsluitdijk in 1931 the fresh water IJsselmeer was formed. This threatened the fishery and one smart guy thought of an alternative trade. He founded the Dolfinarium, nowadays the main tourist attraction of the region where you can see the dolphins and sea lions do their tricks. Have a guided tour at the town, visit the Dolfinarium and have a dinner with eal, the well known fish of the region. |
