texas de brazil

i came into a few dollars and felt like splurging some. decided to take my mom and grand-mother out for a nice meal.

i decided we'd go to texas de brazil. this is mostly because of location :-) the other place we talked about going to was WAY out east.

for those that may not be familiar, texas de brazil is about the middle of the block (on 2nd street) between union (autozone park, greyhound bus station, few hotels) and peabody place. if you crossed over peabody place and went one more block south you'd be at beale street.

anyway, walk in the door and hostess stand is to the right 5- 7 stool bar to the left. small incline ramp to the main dining area. HUGE!!!! salad bar. has all kinds of stuff to make it a meal onto its self.

when you're ready for the main course/ meat selections, your server will bring fresh plates and side items. (garlic mashed potatoes, fried bananas and rolls). each person is given this little card. its about as round as a drinking glass thick as a playing card. one side red, the other green. green means ur hungry. the guys are walking around and they bring ALL KINDS of different meats to your table. excuse me sir would you like pork tenderloin? SURE. another guy, exucse me sir would you like garlic chicken? SURE. beef ribs.brazilian sausage. filet mignon. chicken breasts wrapped in bacon. i mean the choices seem endless. but when you're stuffed or your plate is full just turn your card over to red and the food stops coming. in the mean time your server is steady asking is there anything i can get for you? napkins? beverages? foot massage (just kidding) lol

after all that if you bothered to save room for desert, your server will bring them all out to you. on a tray are (good) plastic replicas of all the available deserts. loosen your belt and waddle on out.

it is pricey $43 per person. its all you can eat. there's a decent wine selection. if you use the parking garage thats on peabody place just west of 2nd, they'll validate your parking.
