Mariscos was, and still, my favorite place for a bite in Santa Monica area, and all the West side when I come to think of it.
I used to ride my bike for 4 miles just to get their Casadilla.
If you're backpacking in CA, and wanna try some simple, fresh and down to earth Mexican food - that's the ri…

i love italian food, but i'm always very picky when it comes to italian food. my relatives live in italy, so everytime i visit italy, i get the BEST ITALIAN FOOD in the world :).
that's why i rarely order italian food over here in luxembourg, because it's NOTHING compared to the ital. food in it…

What could be more enjoyable for the young and young at heart than a carousel ride? Located on Santa Monica's famous pier, the carousel is a historic landmark and fun for all ages. After spending my high school years working in an amusement park, I enjoyed being the one on the ride for a few minutes…

Buddha's Belly is worth being reviewed.
It's a cheap chinese / japanese restaurant on broadway in santa monica.
Even though it offers fair prices, the decor looks pretty classy...
The dishes are served with style..
the staff is very friendly, and they welcome you very kindly.
The prices va…

The Marion Davies Guest House is the last remaining building on what was once William Randolph Hearst's fabulous ocean front estate. Built in the 1920s by architect Julia Morgan after Hearst became displeased with the original architect, a free tour of the house is a great peek into the history of S…

I love fat burgers from FATBURGER!
IMO they make the best burgers in Santa Monica.
Their burgers taste fresh, juicy, and are pretty BIG.
I tried lots of burgers in SM, but fatburger hands down has the best ones. My favorite one was the double-patty King Combo. When you reach in your order, you …

Main Street in Santa Monica has many sit down restaurants. However, if you want something fast without all the greasy mess, try Holy Guacamole. Right in the middle of main street is a hole in the wall Mexican place that's pretty bare bones.
No fancy tables or silverware, in fact this place se…

What a great place - and I believe it's open 24 hours! Swingers is considered an upscale diner, but they really exceeded my expectations of a "diner" experience. Most of their food is organic, the taste is terrific and the prices are average/fair. A great spot to spot stars, too!
I ordered the ah…

So far i've stayed in 2 hotel on the ocean drive...
BestWestern Ocean View (which was really horrible!)
and the Georgian.
We payed the same price for 1 week...
so i would def. recommend the Gerogian Hotel, because the BW Ocean View is a dump. Avoid this one!
PROS:
+ location
+ cleanliness…

Again, wonderful at sunset. Really nice place for a little walk on the pier or along the beach, with their little safeguard cabin, looking like you are in Baywatch lol.... Place to go, and a nice main shopping street across the street....

Not super expensive, but pricey enough that 2 people dining is going to run you $100.
This place is very likely owned by the same people as Ciudad, as I found the food/drink menu and decorations to be nearly identical. Unfortunately, another identical element is also the POOR service. I think I w…

Since LA is so huge, you should decide which sites you want to see
before you book hotels. If you want to be near downtown LA, Venice
Beach, and Santa Monica, I recommend La Hacienda. It's near LAX and
it's the nicest hotel you'll be able to find in that area if you're
traveling on a budget. I b…

Infuzion Cafe is a cool little place at the end of 3rd St. Promenade. The staff is very friendly and the coffee is pretty good. The interior, while quite small, is tastefully decorated (albeit more trendy and contemporary looking than inviting). Prices here are cheaper than other coffee places and t…

This aquarium is a great stop for those with kids. Not very large, it provides a wonderful opportunity to get an upclose look at local marine life. Visitors can get their hands wet in the touch tank and see baby sharks in the shark nursery. Stop by on a Friday and join in as staff feed the residents…
