It's not in many places in Iceland where you can have traditional food such as lamb meat at afforable prices, but here it's very possible. Pizzas and burgers are also delicious and there's a cheap (€5.50 EUR) "All You Can Eat" lunch buffets in weekdays from 12:00 to 13:00.

Your options here are driving it via rental car or taking one of the several excursions offered via tour bus. All sites were free and had plenty of parking.
I drove it. Roads were easy to navigate (although a little icy in the winter) and this is the best option if you want to explore the sites…

A lovely old farm with grass rooftop now functioning as a HI hostel. It has two small rooms with about 8 or 10 beds in total, so book in advance if you're there in Summer. I was there in April 2007 and had the whole hostel to myself!
The views are amazing (onto a glacier), it's in a very isolated…

We were lucky the day we went the guy who created the Museum was there managing the site and talking folks through it. It is not a big site and he was literally collecting the money, setting up your MP3 player for the tour and then at the end running the store.
You can ask him questions and he h…

Sure you've seen a geysir. But have you seen THE Geysir? Geysir is the only Icelandic word used in the English language. And all geysirs are named after the Geysir in Iceland.
You can find Geysir a short drive from Gullfoss, or chances are you can just follow a tour bus and they'll lead you righ…
