I recently found myself in NYC without a lot of $$$ to spend so I looked in to what there was that was free. This place is worth your time if you appreciate art and or want to see some really awesome toys. They have an extensive collection of toy boats, including one with a gas engine. A huge col…

From the location (right on the water!) to the amenities and the overall atmosphere this place is tops. It was by far the best place that we stayed on all of the Lofoten Islands. The property is comprised of old fisherman's cabins along a small harbor with a main building housing the dormitory's (…

The Mariners' Museum in Newport News is one of largest museums of seafaring. Themed galleries are the Age of Exploration, Age of Steam, Defending the Seas, the Small Craft Center, and the Chesapeake Bay.
Much of the story of seafaring is told through beautifully crafted ship models, like a Phoen…

Overall this is a large scale ferry service going from Stockholm to Helsinki.
It is accommodation because its basically a one night cruise ship.
The rooms were clean, we had a basic quad share. But entire ship is a cruiseship. Has many bars, places to eat and a dancing Elvis.
It has a big n…

I am a yearly-passholder and an almost weekly visitor to Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis. Heck, I even got married here. And, while the marriage may not have lasted, my affinity for Quiet Waters Park has!
Pay $6 to get in, or $40 for a year-pass. Do the math, and if you plan on coming back enou…

Punta Del Diablo is all beaches. They have 3 beaches, then another beach that extends over five miles into the heart of Saint Teresa National Park. My favorite beach there is Playa del Pascadores. It has the fisherman's boats bulled onto the sand. It's very picturesque.

The Koombana Bay in Bunbury is famous for its local pod of dolphins that swim, eat and breed peacefully in the protected, shallow waters. There are approximately 50 that live there full time, while another 150 regurlarly live there for most parts of the year.
The Dolphin Discovery Centre is a tou…

Madurodam is a miniature city located in Scheveningen, The Hague, in the Netherlands. It is a model of a Dutch town on a 1:25 scale, composed of typical Dutch buildings and landmarks, as are found at various locations in the country.
Since my friend from UK was over for a visit, my husband and I b…

When EPCOT opened in 1982, Living with the Land was the only ride in the Land pavillion and therefore often experienced looooong lines. (The only other options were a less-than-exciting movie on the symbiotic relationships of the natural world and a unique cabaret of singing foods--I will forever h…

Will add more pictures of Venice Canals eventually since I seem to visit twice a year, whenever friends are in town.
This is a bit of an oasis in Venice, where small houses line a man made canal system. While the property is only for the rich and famous, the area is open the public and quite a si…

I assume that Central Park has been reviewed several [hundred] times but I was there this weekend for a wedding ceremony in the park, so I'm adding my unnecessary two cents.

I like the grand canal best at night or right around sunset. There is less activity on the water and the buildings begin to light up, reflecting off the inky surface of the water. Find a quiet place away from the bustle of gondolas and chatter of tourists and enjoy a relaxing evening.
