swarovski crystals factory: a bit of liberace - Wattens - TravBuddy

little did people know that in the small town of wattens, south of innsbruck austria, lies the swarovski crystal factory. it is located in a valley amidst the dramatic backdrop of the bettelwurf mountain range.

the factory has a museum - the swarovski museum - it cost about 5-7 euros entrance (cant remember) - and inside showcases the history of the crystals - which are mined in siberia.

hen i was there - the loudspeaker was in german and italian - since both are the dominating languages of the tirol region in the alps.

inside they showcase exhibitions of famous artists - like pablo neruda and pablo picasso which were crystalized and inside the breathtaking krystall kügel (crystal orb) where lightshows are inside and amazing laser effects while an opera singer sings in the background.

i highly recommend the swarovski crystal museum to anyone who are in innsbruck - its just a 20 minute drive south from it to the town of wattens.
