NYC has some great cupcake bakeries/shops, but my favorite by far is sugar Sweet sunshine.

Located on the Lower East Side, sugar Sweet sunshine is a cozy, friendly place where you can sit down with friends and enjoy a cupcake (or two!). The owners used to work at Magnolia Bakery (an NYC cupcake institution, made famous by Sex and the City) when they decided to open up their own bakery. Their cupcakes are always freshly baked, they are not dry (my biggest complaint with some of other cupcake shops), and best of all, they are DELICIOUS!

For just $1.50, you can have your own piece of cupcake heaven. My favorite flavors are bob, pistachio, and coconut....but they're all yummy! You can also order custom-made cakes, cookies, and other baked goodies.
