Interests
Reading (literature, ethnographies, travel narratives, memoirs), writing (poetry, short stories, reviews, keeping journals), movies (foreign, art, indie), travel, music (rock, electronic), singing, trying new types of food, daydreaming, knitting, going to concerts, coffee, going to museums, cooking, hanging out with friends, anthropology, languages, culture, world music, avocados. Books you might find in my backpack
Well, my favorite authors include Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Franz Kafka, Isabel Allende, Ha Jin, Charles Bukowski, Khaled Hosseini, Jack Kerouac, Allan Ginsberg, Baudelaire, and Haruki Murakami. I also like to read ethnographies, history books and travel guides. I am also very fond of Hesse's "Siddhartha", which I have read many times. I just fininshed reading Elizabeth Kostova's "The Historian" and "A Free Life" by Ha Jin. I am currently reading "The World is Flat by T. Friedmann and "The Thirteenth Tale" by Dianne Setterfield Music you might find me listening to while waiting for my plane
Most Memorable Travel Experience
I haven't had the chance to travel to too many places, but so far my most memorable experiences have been traveling to Miami, Florida and getting to ride a boat through Everglades National Park and see alligators, turtles and all kinds of beautiful birds in their national habitat, and visiting Todaiji temple in Nara, Japan, which is not only the largest wooden structure in the world but is also home to the largest bronze statue in the world (Buddha). Not only was I impressed by Todaiji, but also by the beauty of Nara, and the lush forests surrounding it. Another amazing experience was walking through the ruins of Pompeii, and then hiking up to the top of Mt. Vesuvius. Enjoying gin and tonics across the street from the Roman Colosseum with a Sardegnan named Gavino and a Tunisian named Daniel and then walking in the back alleys of Piazza Navona was also a surreal experience.
Profile
I was born and raised in Chile, lived on the Big Island of Hawaii for 8 years and am now living right outside of San Francisco, CA. I have been here for about 5 years, and I kind of want to move again. Any suggestions?

Narita, Japan -› Tokyo, Japan -› ...
I went on this trip with my sister and boyfriend. The areas we covered were Tokyo, Kyoto and Nara. We were only there for a week but we saw a TON! Japan is an amazing country with amazing people and I hope to go back there someday to explore the rest of the country.

Rome, Italy -› Napoli, Italy -› ...
We visited Rome and Naples in March 2008, and had an amazing time. Unfortunately, since the dollar was so low we couldn't afford some of the souvenirs we had hoped to buy (Italian shoes, leather bags, etc) but our experience was AMAZING nonetheless. Rome is a fascinating city, and Naples has a lot of character. My trip inspired me to return to Italy someday and explore the rest of the country.

Miami is a fantastic city- by far the most beautiful and fun city I have been to in the U.S. so far. Anything a person could ever want is here- beautiful beaches, abundant wildlife, a vast array of different cuisines, friendly and happy people, it's all here... in Miami.
