As I was born and raised in Ioannina for many years, I must admit I am quite emotionally connected with this beautiful city! Ioannina is the capital of Epirus, built on the west coast of Pamvotida lake! The island of the lake is the only habitable island in a lake worlwide and you can take a boat tour over the lake whenever you want! If you decide to visit the island, be sure to taste the local food specialty; that is frog legs (don't worry, it tastes like chicken)!!!

Near the lake resides a historic castle, which is also inhabited by many native families! You can take a walk around (or in) the castle and next to the lake and you will be amazed by the sycamore rows that stand tall around you!

A few Kms outside the town is the famous ancient Greek Theatre of Dodoni, while in the suburbs of the town you can visit the prehistoric cave of Perama and the Wax-Works world famous museum of Vrellis!

Apart from all the above sights, Ioanina offers a lot of Greek-like entrertainment! University of Ioannina is one of the most known Greek Universities with more than 15000 students and thus the city is full of all sort of cafes and bars!
