I "lived" in Celbridge and commuted about 15 minutes on the normal County roads and several round-abouts to the Intel site located in Leixlip. Which if you did not know is the actual birthplace of Guinness! One of his early homes was across the street from my apartment, although buried back in a row of houses. I was never able to figure out how to get a good picture of it.
I really enjoyed my 2 months in Celbridge, although it's not a real Tourist place; if you're ever passing through I highly recommend O'Conners Pub as it is one of the oldest in the Village. Most of the local Families have been gathering here for many many years. As the story goes.... Which in an Irish pub is worth... well you'll figure it out once you hear a few dozen or so. :P
These are just some random pictures of the Village of Celbridge, and the "Main Street" that runs through it. As well as my wonderful apartment/home for my 2 month stay. I'm sure my downstairs neighbors were not sad to see me go as I made quite a few friends and had some late nights in that place.
There's not much to do in Celbridge to be honest except Castletown House and several good pubs. While I was there the Ryder Cup was taking place in September so it was rather exciting times and the amount of foreigners did increase by a few, but not many. Most just stopped in for pints and were on their way home or to the Cup. They actually had parking and shuttle buses from Celbridge to The K Club where the Cup was being held. It was probably 10 minutes up the road from my apartment on a normal day. During the Cup is was more like 30-45 minutes. Good thing work was the opposite direction!!
