Roskilde cathedral is a very nice cathedral which is the burial ground for danish monarchs. The cathedral is listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. The cathedral was built in the 12th and 13th centuries, and it was Scandinavia's first Gothic cathedral to be built of brick.
At the entrance I got a information sheet about the cathedral, they even had on in dutch :) I walked around and saw al the different porches and side chapels. There are many tombs and crypts spread over the cathedral.
If I remember right there also was the possibility of a guided tour at certain times.

Roskilde festival, a wery nice place to go if you want to relax, party and listen to good music. I think there is something for everybody! this year (07) it was quite rainy, so i would recomend anyone to bring raincoats and boots.
the facilities is good, showers are clean, but the toilets look like every festival toilet.
remember to visit København when you are there, the tivoli is great!
I hope to be there for the summer also.

If you come to Roskilde where I live, you should definately try Buddy Holly or Interpool/Mary's. Gimle is a nice club as well, but sometimes it is almost empty and quite boring. A nice place to start your night is Interpool where you can grab some cheap beers or drinks. Unfortunately you can't dance there, so if you wanna dance you got to go to Buddy Holly, but beware of the many desperate people! Moon is a no-go club, and Garbo's is for people from 20 yrs if you're a girl and 22 yrs if you're a guy. It is okay.

i took a day trip to roskilde, which is just west of copenhagen to visit the viking museum.

roskilde used to be a very important port in denmark, and during an attack they scuttled five viking ships of various sizes in the middle of the harbor to force an attacking fleet to land farther up the coast. all five of these ships have been recovered and partially reconstructed in some cases. one ship was 30m in length, and i believe they said it was the largest viking ship ever found.

back in copenhagen, i was having a bit of an issue figuring out which train i was supposed to take - a security man working at the train station helped me out with that, and once i told him i was going to roskilde, he suggested i check out the church on the way to the viking museum so i have included some photos of that as well.

First time at this festival, went for 6 day and that seems to be the right amount. Spent 2 day drinking with random scandinavians, which are very friendly and love nothing more than drinking and then falling over. The festival itself was 4 days long, and just rocked. Personal faves were the beastie boys and muse but saw alot of random continental bands. Worth going to. Money wise £140 for the ticket, £140 for flight and spent about £250 on drugs/food/drink.

Food wise the place is brilliant, nothing like anyother festival. You look at the food and think "I should get more". Their chili-dog is my personal favourite.

On our last full day as tourists in Denmark, we made the trip to Roskilde to see another UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Roskilde Cathedral, and the Viking museum. Much like yesterday, it was extremely windy while we were in Roskilde and it was a bit chilly, but both places we were going allowed us to spend time inside out of the wind. The Viking museum had several recreated Viking ships outside and more inside that were dug out of a fjord several years ago. The Domkirke was under renovation on the exterior, so there was not much to see outside. Inside, however, was as impressive as any cathedral I've seen in Europe.

On the 12th I dorned my backpack, which seemed to have gained another
few pounds from just standing in the London flat, and made my way to
Heathrow, optimistically buying a one way ticket to the tube. Razwana
came with me to keep me company, and without her I think I would have
sat down and cried like a lost child at some point. When we arrived in
Heathrow Terminal 4 everything was chaos, the parkinglot was full of
desperate people and patient yellow-vested staff. They would only let
people into the terminal in a strict order, several flights were still
getting cancelled and the line where I could try and get on standby was
the same as for those who needed to rebook, and about 3-4 hours long...
The faces of the desperate people and the press from the surrounding
mass made me fly the place as fast as I could, whith the speed of a
tortoise.
Back in the flat I called my mum, hoping that she could make everything
better (do we ever stop thinking that our mothers are undefetable?) It
wasn't the rescue I had hoped for, but she helped me with some
phonenumbers, and in the end I got a ticket for the night train to
Copenhagen via Brussels and Hamburg.
I could keep ranting on about the train journey and the mentally
chalenged germans, but I'm going to stop here, and just tell you how
nice it was to be back in rainy Denmark, finally able to let my mind,
and back, rest. For a day anyway.
The arrival to a rainy suburb station isn't the grand finale you could
wish for after 2 months of travelling overseas, but my family was there
and back home my mum had made a danish layercake for me (special
birthday cake, nothing like danish pastry) It was just so yummy-yummy ;-)

Phew... I managed to get most of my stuff in my bags and parcels, and staggered my way to Heathrow, where I started to panick when I couldn't find a trolley, and my arms were starting to tear from my shoulders. I honestly don't understand why such a succesfull country as England, can be so unorganised in everything. Everyone who's been to the Postoffice or Bank in this otherwise lovely country, know what I'm talking about. Everything seems to defy logic and progress into the 21st century. I had that confirmed when I went to the bank and the council office in Roskilde, everything went soo smooth, I couldn't believe it. -And the sun was shining! Very out of character for this country...

So now all is set, I've officially moved to Denmark, and sent my application for the school this morning, so cross your fingers for me getting accepted this summer. Otherwise I might just stay in California and work as a waitress or in New York as a dogwalker...
