Today our goal was to go across Canada, into Michigan, and camp as close to Chicago as we could, so we could have a full day there tomorrow. Saw 3 of the Great Lakes, (Ontario, Huron and Michigan). Ran into a line of traffic at the border, but made it through with no problems. Ran into a severe rain squall around Flint, Michigan, but it wasn't raining at all where we camped in Indiana. We stayed at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Campground in Portage, Indiana, just outside of Gary. Lot of RV's there, we were the only tenters. Bought some firewood at the camp store, and Dawn made us a nice dinner. After dinner, Tyler made friends with a 13 year old boy named Marty, who lived there all summer in a trailer with his parents. They went riding around on Marty's golf cart while Dawn and I took a walk around the lake. Met a guy named George who lived there, but used to live in CT not far from us. He tried to convince us to buy a cabin there on the lake. No thanks, just passing through! It was a warm night, so Dawn slept outside...mosquitos don't like her for some reason! ..they find me delicious, so I stayed in the tent! Overall, it was a nice campground.

Nice campground on the way to Chicago, friendly, helpful staff. Located next to Lake Minnehaha (no joke!), many rv's & trailers with people who seem to live there, at least in summer. Still, room for tenters like us. Went for a walk around the lake in the evening, was approached by a resident who tried to sell us on a timeshare on the lake! No thanks, just passing through! They have boats and stuff you can go out on the lake on, and a pool area...downside is next to railroad tracks, and some LOOOONG freight trains pass through! Overall, a good experience.
