Sooo...cause of our jet leg we woke up very early and after a lil breackfast we left the hotel and made our way to Chechen-Itza!
To find the right highway was not that easy but after asking several ppl we finally found it!:D

Chichen-Itza i guess are the most knowen Maya Ruins, since you can reach then easily from Cancun.
We wandered around and red the stuff in our travel guide book...but i somehow wasnt very ipressed by those ruins...have seen some bigger once, but that comes later:P!

We took some great pics of the ruins with us in the middle and once again i was wodering how they've built all this stuff by not having the help like we do nowadays!
The main pyramid which is a highlight at 21. march when srping starts and the shadow makes it look like 2 snakes come down the steps was a cool thing to see...when you clapp your hands infront of it its sounds very strange like someone is clapping back(but not like an echo!).

Well we got fed up of the international tourism there and drove feather to Merida...our next station...
I loved the way there with the empty, just long straight street which seemed never ending!

Our next stop was to the famous Mayan ruins and pyramids known as Chichen Itza. This restored Mayan site is one of the 7 Modern Wonders of the World. This photo was taken from a Mayan sports field in view of its largest pyramid and some lovely Mayan sculpture.

The ruins at Chichen-Itza were absolutely amazing. It was quite a trip into the interior of the Yucatan peninsula, but it was definitely worth it. On the other hand, the vendors at the site were incredibly annoying. People won't leave you alone, trying to sell you stupid little trinkets while you're trying to take in the scenery. I really wish they had been banned from entering the park. Since the hurricanes two years ago and a fatal fall, you can't climb the pyramid anymore, but I doubt I would have made it up those steep steps in that intense heat and humidity, especially with a fear of heights. The only other downside was that we were not provided with a map of the site and, therefore, we missed out on visiting two of the major ruins. Still, what we did see was great. I don't think I would take the long and incredibly hot trip out there again, but I am definitely grateful that we did go at all. Well, I might go again in order to check out the two ruins that we missed.

Amazing ruins site, best seen with a guide for at least the first few hours, then go wondering by yourself. Best early in the morning or late afternoon to get those elusive photos without people in them.
