Went to a small town outside of Smith Falls, called Perth. Did some hiking along the Ridaeu Canal.

I arrived in Perth before lunch, first visiting Last Duel Park (where I couldn't find any signage to indicate where it took place!) which is used for camping. The water there is full of plant life of some sort, definitely not something I'd want to swim in! But I did see many boaters, and happened to be there when a group of reenactors pulled out an old-fashioned made canoe, something meant to celebrate the anniversary of the Canal.

Once I was finished there, I parked in the older part of town and wandered around, looking at buildings, then made my way into Matheson House, which is now a museum. Outside is a garden with plants that would have been used during the time of the buidling of the house. The first two floors have been kept in their original shape and have a lot of furnishings and pictures from the time period the house was built. But because of a previous owner, the top floor was entirely redone and any of the original work is long gone, so a mini-museum of great Perth events is housed on this floor; everything from a piece of the World's Largest Cheese to the pistols from the last duel.

I was starting to get hungry and asked the woman watching over things in the house where was a good place to eat. She recommended O'Reilly's, only a few buildings down, so I wandered down that way. Had a very good plate of fish and chips while enjoying the sun on the deck outside.

After I finished eating, I meandered around the area a bit more, taking pictures, before deciding that I should move along. Since it was a Friday and I would run into rush hour traffic if I headed home right then, I decided I would make at least one more stop this day before making my way back to Ottawa.
