What a day! The powder gods didn't disappoint, delivering around 30cm of the finest snow I've ever experienced to a glorious Sunshine. Rich and Li couldn't resisit what would probably be the last good day of the season and had each taken the day off work. So we loaded up Rich's truck with our boards and set off for Sunshine, Banff. After a picturesque 75 min journey in the Rockies we got to Sunshine Village. We weren't disappointed at all! The snow and runs were incredible and by the end of the day the new kit had proved itslf to be well woth the investment and Em was looking pretty good linking her turns too.

This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel and its been a very good stay. All suites have a fireplace and some with Kitchenettes which is a value because food in Banff can be rather expensive, therefore cooking your own is always a plus.

This hotel is great for couples looking for a quiet weekend, and privacy in the chalets for groups. Very close to many walking paths and approximately 5 kms from the center of Banff.

The staff is friendly (as they are anywhere in Banff) and the rooms where spotless when we returned in the evenings.

Two things that didn't make my top list were the pool and hot tub. They have them on site, but they were currently closed for maintenance. They also need a serious upgrade, safety wise. Banff on the other hand has some amazing public hot pools so visit those while you stay.

As well, the bedding was a little outdated for most typical hotels in Canada. A mattress upgrade was needed. Otherwise, its a great stay for Banff standards and affordability.

Great food, unbelievable portions!
I ordered half a portion of nachos as a starter and couldn't even eat half before ruining my appetite for the rest of the meal. So when we went back we ordered a half portion again but between four of us and it was enough for a starter.
All the food I tried there was very good (especially the bourbon chicken pizza, the nachos and the sweet potato fries) and the price is always good.
I'm torn between saying the price was cheap or average. On a regular night it is always good value but they also have special deals on. Definately try to go for either Monday night - $9 pizzas or Tuesday night - $8 steak sandwichs. Although you may have to book on a Tuesday night for this reason.
Great food, great service and perfect if you are trying to budget!
