Knowing that it helps me to stop and stretch my legs on any car ride over two hours, I opened my handy AAA TourBook and looked for an attraction along my route that was either free or cheap that could give me a 15-30 minute break. The Elsie Williams Doll Collection in the library of the Delaware Technical and Community College appeared to be a good choice.

The exhibit is in the library itself, I discovered (there were no signs but just look to your right once you enter the library). The dolls were all older and spanned a variety of styles from Madame Alexander brides to girls from the original 13 colonies to a case of teacher dolls to Shirley Temple replicas to corn husk dolls to a wax doll from Iran (one of many nationalities represented). Personally I found the dolls in Spanish outfits and a set of dolls related to the story of Peter Pan most interesting.
