The Black Bear Saloon is a smaller saloon located in downtown Stamford. On one side of the restaurant is a bar, the middle section has tables, and the far side has a line of booths. The booths are pretty interesting in that you have to step up to get into them. Plus each booth has its own tv that you can watch. There are also tables set up outside where you can enjoy your meal and a beautiful day at the same time. The food is good and comparatively cheaper than other restaurants in the area. The first time here I ordered a chicken wrap with fries. The chicken wrap was out of this world and the fries were good too. The last time I was here I decided to try a steak wrap with onion rings. The steak wrap was good and the onion rings were outstanding. I've never had a bad meal at the Black Bear Saloon. The Black Bear is always hopping and is usually a little crowded each time I've been there but I've never had to wait for a table. Athens Pizza and Restaurant has to be one of my all time favorite restaurants. They serve traditional greek and italian food as well as pizza, salads, and sandwiches. Their food is unbelieveably good! It is a smaller-sized restaurant, and the inside is really nice and clean. They play greek music and the staff is very friendly. The service is a little slow as is in most restaurants in the Stamford area (everyone must be so laid back in this area) so call ahead for take out if you don't have at least an hour. If you are ever in the Stamford/Greenwich area, you must try Athens - you won't be sorry!

Als je het giga druk hebt en pasen ook nog eens vroeg in het jaar valt dan word je dus zomaar overvallen door pasen.
Ik had de dag voor pasen via Skype nog virtueel zullen participeren aan het jaarlijkse paas-ei-schilder-festival bij de familie Hendriks in Oosterbeek. Maar ik was tot mijn schaamte vergten om om 06:00 am op te staan....

Werner en Annie Frohn waren zo gastvrij om mij uit te nodigen om pasen met hen en de kids in Stamford te komen vieren. Een aanbod dat ik met genoegen aan nam.

Met een stampvolle MetroNorth trein van Grand Central naar Stamford Connecticut gereisd alwaar Werner, Inez, Alec en Ian mij op het perron welkom heetten.

Bij hun huis aangekomen had de "Easterbunny" tot groot vermaak van de kids allemaal eieren en ander paas-achtige zaken verstopt in de tuin. Dit hadden ze in no-time gevonden.

Na een goddellijke maaltijd, o.a. varkenshaas met champignons en aardappelkaaskoekjes besloten we ivm het superfraaie weer nog even een wandeling in het dichtbij gelegen Stamford Museum and Nature Center te maken. Erg leuk om weer eens in de rustige natuur te zijn. Ook de in het park residerende otter was een leuke attractie.

Des avonds in de mooie huisbioscoop met de kids naar de film "Transformers" gekeken. En daarna weer per trein naar NYC. De dag erop was het immers géén tweede paasdag voor mij. Daar doet men hier niet aan......
