Newly renovated hotel along McAuliffe Place which is in the heart of town.
-nice and clean great rooms
-big and modern comfortable bed
-large and new T&B

You can park on the side street (hotel front).
Usually, nobody was manning at the hotel desk ,
Use the call box by the door else go to the restaurant (beside the hotel).
You can use your credit upfront for payment.

A short walk around is enjoyable.Different restaurants aroudnd the centerville square, WWII sites and tourists info.

Breakfast is not free (french breakfast, not bad for an acceptable amount
to enjoye a variety of food which is enough to stay full until the next destinations of road trip.

I am glad and enjoyed the comfort on this hotel

This epic battle was dramatized by the HBO series Band of Brothers but it was more than a series or drama for the men who lived it....It was life and death.

The German plans were to cut the Allies in half, take the city of Antwerp and then encircle the allied Armies and force them to make a peace treaty or face death. The problem was the bitter cold.....It was a hellish winter and it took its toll on both the American and German forces. The Germans used the cold to their advantage and started the campaign when the weather was bad, this prevented the American Air Force from flying and running operations to attack or supply their troops. None the less, eventually the skies did open up and the American air force was allowed to resume operations, giving them the opportunity to re-supply their ground forces that faced extremely harsh conditions. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The battle was fought from 16 December 1944 to 25 January 1945 and it resulted in one of the most heavy casualty results of the war. The American casualties range from 70,000 to 104,000 thousand soldiers while the Germans casualties range from 60,000 to 100,000 thousand soldiers. The British did have losses in the vicinity of 1,400 soldiers during the battle.

Although German forces were not completely defeated, they never recovered from their losses. This let the Russian offensive advance in the eastern front while in the western front the German air force was left destroyed.

Every year the people of Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg (BENELUX) gather and perform a march of three different lengths to honor the men who died for freedom. This march makes sure that the following generations never forget the sacrifice that other people did for them and their way of life.

The march has re-enactments, airborne drops and even free hot chocolate, a luxury the real guys never had. This year I did the 13 Kilometer march; this was the middle lengths....The day were beautiful, the sun was shinning but bitter cold. During the march I couldn’t help think of the men who were there so many years ago, the men who left part of souls in that land and the men who never left at all.
