There are two ways on how to get to Tasmania. First option is to take the plane or to take the ship from Melbourne to Devonport Australia.

It takes about half a day to get to Tasmania. One of the crew told me that it was a party ship years ago, people went to Tasmania and took the ship back. But since faster ships are used, people stopped partying. Now it’s quite boring the whole night and if you don’t have cabin or a place to sleep its not going to be relaxing.

Its nice to leave Port Philip with this huge ship, but afterwarts nothing happens, nothing to see until you reach Tasmania.

The fares are quite expensive if you are travelling with your car it might be cheaper when you book a flight to Tasmania and rent a car there.

It is good in Tasmania because as long as it is salt water rivers or at the beach you do not need a license to go fishing if you are using a rod unlike in Sydney (my home town) where you do need a license everywhere you go.
Fishing is awesome as the tide just turns to start coming in, best fishing spots would be at Port Sorell Jetty or at Port Sorell river, as well as off the rock spit at the mouth of the Mersey River at East Devonport, but only fish here when the tide is almost full.
Talk to the locals to find out the best bait to use. Type of bait for fishing will depend on where you are going fishing and what type of fish are out and about.
Generally pipis are good bait, as well as a bit of kangaroo meat, I have also seen people use fish that are undersize as bait buy cutting them up.
Be aware of rangers that may check your catch, if you are planning on fishing to catch your dinner, make sure you purchase a ruler and a guide book so you know the legal limits of the size of the fish and how many you are permitted to take.
off beach netting in Tasmania is illegal. So is hand netting for white bait</p>
