Booked into the hotel at the other end of the main street. We have to stay another night due to the buses being booked up until tomorrow. Had a wander around Berry museum, an interesting little place, manned by very enthusiastic volunteers. Berry and the surrounding area used to have a lot of dairy farms, with only a few left now. The countryside does remind us of the Yorkshire Dales, with the addition of beaches and palm trees of course. At the end of the 19th century, children had to get to school by crossing the creek on logs when the rains had been heavy.

Watched TV in the evening, and it is here we have a confession to make. We have got into Home and Away, but in our defence, recent episodes have been very dramatic and traumatic concerning one of the long standing characters (and before you ask, no it's not Alf). We won't give the plot away for all you closet H and A fans. An update on creatures: no cockroaches to report, but Diane did chase a lizard out of our room before we, as usual, barricaded ourselves in.

Woken by children once again (a few families are staying here for the weekend), this time a 4 year old boy running around the courtyard singing "I'm a walrus" at the top of his voice.

Checked out at midday, and caught the train into Berry. We had booked ourselves into a little place called "The Postman's Ghost" - a collection of four suites in an old renovated post house. It was a great room. We thought it was even greater when we realised that the mini-bar, including two bottles of wine, was complimentary. The problem was that we were only there for one night! The rest of the day was spent exploring Berry, mercifully much cooler than the last time we were here, and sampling the local food and wine.
