Via Death Valley Junction naar Shoshone, waar we nu zitten. Om 16.00 uur aangekomen en we zitten in de Shoshone Inn. Shoshone telt maarliefst 100 inwoners. Er zijn ongeveer 40 gebouwtjes (een tankstation, jawel, een museum(pje), Post Office, Motel, de red buggy cafe, de crowbar etc.) Vroeger leefden de mijnwerkers in zelf gegraven ‘grotten’. In de winter warm en in de zomer lekker koel. De bedoeling id dat we morgen een stukje terug gaan om het laagste punt te bezichtigen (-86m onder zeespiegel) Da’s vlakbij Badwater (HW 178) daarna weer terug naar Shohone richting Las Vegas. Daar hebben we nog een tussenstop bij de ‘china ranch’ voor oa een overheerlijke milkshake. In Las Vegas bijven we 2/3 nachten (ook ff Hooverdam bekijken) en daarna door naar Zion, Bryce Canyon (Glen Canyon Dam) Grand Canyon en zo nar Sedona (flakbij Flaggstaf) waar kennissen van Renate wonen. Hoelang we daar blijven weten we nog niet maar daarna door naar Palm Springs, L.A., Beverly Hills, Santa Monica (Baywatch!!!!) en zo weer naar SF. OK dan, het is 9.30 uur, Renate ligt te slapen en ik ook zodadelijk, Welterusten.

WOW i was watching "the incredbles" from badwater then i passed out. i woke up right before we arrive at shoshone. we wanted to get some water and soda, also stretch out. that was a long drive from badwater, about an hour. this is a very small town. there is a chevron station, cafe, post office and market. not much else. i bought $5 worth of quick picks. i like to buy CA lottery in small towns. it seems like  the winners are buying it in small towns. majority of the winners are in desert/boonies/the sticks area of CA.

i would have not though to drive north on 15 then north on 95 to death valley. then again, i did not look the map on where to see the "points of interests" are. it made sense to drive north for us. we would not been having dinner in baker, ca if we drove south. we would have have dinner in beatty, NV. eeeeeeeeeeek there is nothing to eat there other than "smash hit subs" (see review) or a mexican restuarant.

it was an hour to baker, ca. we were getting hungry for MAD GREEK. i still have that 1/3 sub from beatty, NV. i rather save that for lunch tomorrow. i am saving my stomach for MAD GREEK :)
