My friends and I went camping and rafting two summers ago in West Virginia. I'll have to check the name of the camp grounds, but I do know it was connecting to the rafting company. All in all it was an awesome experience. The campgrounds was more open that usual...without individual sites...with an open field that provided a really friendly and social atmosphere. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were included in the price. You had lunch on the river and then a really fun dinner in a pavillion back at the campground at night. They also showed everyone photos and videos of their day on the river at the shop. The New River is the little sister of the Gauley. It's great for beginners and still fun enough for more experienced rafters also. The guides are fun, friendly, and some very nice to look at! I definitely recommend this river for watersport seekers. I plan on going back this september to raft the Gauley, I hear it's bigger with higher classified rapids than the New.
