The day started off grey and raining cat's and dog's as it usually does in this great state of washington. We loaded up the final belongings going camping, including the kid and dogs. First stop was to Starbucks to load up on the coffee, Then Fred Meyer's to get some grease for the hitch. This was the first camping trip with our new pop up trailer. finally no more sleeping on air matrice's, and having them go flat, and no more cold nights. A heater to keep us warm. and no more tent's to put up. We arrive at our local spot around 1 pm. backed up into our spot and began to set up the trailer. After everyone arrived, and sat up there tent spots, it was time to start the festivities. Light the fire, cook the food, and let the games begin. Friday night most everyone goes to bed early. Saturday was breakfast no rain. Beautiful day. Kids went to the lake. some of us went to town to shop, and some went a few miles up the mountain to see the snow. Other's just napped. That night was smore's,stories, game's and pranks. Beautiful star's out, but oh no sometime early morning it decided to rain. So up to the tarps and then the sun decided to grace us with it's presence. Sunday was a lazy day. Grandpa taught the kids how to start survival fires. and we just lounged around. Monday rain krept in again as we were packing up to leave, but it was a great stress reduceing weekend. Can't wait till 4th of july weekend. and Labor day.

We went up to clear camp for the begining of camp season, and found this hotel that will accomidate a whole family or dive team. Not a bad place if your not into luxury and room service. There are plenty of restraunts near by, and lot's of beach to walk on when the tides out. From this spot you can head out on to the peninsula, to Bremerton,Port angel's,Port Townsend, and To the pacific ocean. It is a beautiful drive, but a long one. and worth the trip if you don't mind slow winding roads to beautiful places.

when you do things your not supposed to do the night before, the punishment is hauling wood. We all try to take turns cutting, hauling, or cleaning. Have to keep things clean so the local habitants don't come to take the food away. We have had couguars, raccoons, squirls, chipmunks, and deer come to camp. maybe even a bear or two. At night you can hear the cyotes calling to each other about the nightly catch. The best night up there was about 4 years ago. It was so clear you could see the northern lights. That was a beautiful site. We have had many nights where it poured down rain so hard that we had to keep a huge bonfire going, and tarp city. It rained so hard that the inside of my tent flooded, and other tents actually broke from the weight of the water on there tarps. But is always fun and something to talk about

Through out the day the dogs try to steal a little rest and relaxation also. The kids like to play with what scared them the night before, and always time to play. The rest room was just cleaned, and we decided to see how many of us were going to fit in the potty. more could have fit, but declined. Just make sure that when your using the bathroom you keep a hand on the lock, because someone always knows how to open it and give everyone a view. Always a prank on a prankster.

Here at lake Kokanne, We love to have picnic's,let the dogs and kids cool off in the hot afternoon sun, and play in our boats or rafts. The water here is glacier water, so it is extremely cold even on the hottest days. Later at night we can relax by a big camp fire, tell ghost stories, play telephone, and different games. Every now and then we will get a creature that comes out of the brush, and chase the kids around and give them a good scare. We love to play practical jokes on people. One of the best one's were locking mom and dad in there trailer, and letting off a fart bomb inside and bungy cording the doors shut. Pewu. Dad broke the bungie cord and came after the offending party. Another was taking there matrice off there bed and hiding it in someone's tent. Nothing like expecting a soft bed to lay your weary head on and finding nothing but hard board. We have also done fear factor with the kids. Taken them to the lake at night, on a fake snipe hunt. and have people pop out of trees and bushes at them. They have seen big foot and alliens. Had the port a potties rocked on the adults, open cans of sardines stuck under car seats, cloths thrown up in the tree's, smoke bombs thrown into tents, and more fart bombs. we have a rubber chicken that we would go to other camp sites and use this and it's awful dying noise to scare unexpected camper. If you get into trouble at the camp you get to do lots of hard labor like hauling wood, and dish details. There are lots of trails to take the ATV's and dirt bikes, and a beautiful river to watch the eagles soar. This is the most relaxing place to be in the summer and the best investment our parents have made for us. Lots of memories,to pass on to the next generation. If you look closely at the picture with the ghost next to joe. that was taken on a night we were telling ghost stories, I was shocked to see this. and when blown up it looks like a ghost of a cowboy.
