In the heart of downtown Mountain View is this small, tucked away restaurant that serves fabulous Mexican food. If I'd let him...Larry would eat there everyday. His favorite? A Los Charros burrito with carnitas...big portions and not too expensive!</p>

This place has great burritos, it tasted very fresh compared to most mexican places I have been to and not very oily either! also they have beef tongue if you like that too! many people ordered this other hand made tortilla thing, not sure what that was.

However, the area has very limited parking, so I suggest carpooling or parking on the street if you can</p>

<p>
This Indian restaurant is at downtown Mountain View (home of Google) in the Silicon Valley of northern California. Mountain View downtown looks like a nice downtown with lots of shops, restaurants and parking. We went during a rainy night, and the lights along the street looked pretty lively.

The restaurant is at a corner, easy to find. The interior is cleanly decorated and the staff were very friendly and did not rush us. We met some friends and took our time chatting before looking at the menu.

We ordered Garlic Naan and Rumali Roti (a special, air flipped paper thin bread baked on an inverted Indian Wok) for our breads. I liked the Rumali Roti better than the Naan bread because it was not dried up, it was really thin and you had to tear the large piece of bread into smaller pieces by hand. We had Shahi Samosa (4 crispyly fried turnovers stuffed with mixed vegetables, herbs and spices) for appetizer, it was OK, but not special.

For dinner we ordered Bharoni Shimla Mirch
(Roasted whole bell pepper stuffed with freshly chopped vegetables and
cooked in thick curry sauce), Lamb Roganjosh
(Tender pieces of lamb flavored with cardamom, cloves, and Kashmiri
spices with a blend of onions, fresh ginger and garlic) and Butter Chicken
(House specialty - Tandoor-grilled shredded chicken simmered in a rich
tomato based creamy honey gravy) and Chef's Signature - Sea Bass Tikka
(Fresh tender Chilean sea bass marinated in Chef's special marinade, char-grilled). Of these, the lamb was my favorite, followed by the Sea Bass. The waiter divved up the curry dishes on our plates for us so we did not have to do it ourselves.

A couple of glasses of wines for 3 (out of 4) of us, and the total was about $150. I think this is only average for the town and it was a pleasant enough experience that I won't mind going back again to try some other dishes.</p>

Similar to Chipotle where you can customize your order but some things
cost extra, like cheese and extra salsa. The taste is really good
though, but still different from Chipotle and if you have been to La
Burrita in Berkeley, it is like that but not as oily. Also they have a
meat called Chicken Mole! Mole is a chocolate like sauce.

  If anyone can get an employee to invite you guys for a meal, consider yourself lucky... Google is the place for free, high quality food.&nbsp; I was lucky enough to get a tour of most of the cafeterias at Google, and they got it all.&nbsp; Every serving area was serving different, delectable food, and there were tons of employees chillin and havin a good time.&nbsp; You'll definitely never complain of lack of variety.&nbsp; Also, we're not talking about your typical pizza and salad bar type food, either.&nbsp; This place had the goods, including very appetizing salads, sushi bar, Asian food center, etc.&nbsp; Also, they offer a "healthy diner's choice" sample plate out everyday so you can try to stay healthy and avoid premature death.<br><br>Go check it out.&nbsp; It's worth it.<br>

<p>
Amber Cafe is a new Indian restaurant on El Camino. It's owned by the
same people that run Amber India Restaurant further down the street,
which is one of the best Indian restaurants in the South Bay. Amber
India is a nice sit-down restaurant, whereas Amber Cafe is meant for
something quicker and cheaper.<br>
<br>
I
ate here over Thanksgiving break with some friends, and we were
impressed. For the price, Amber Cafe is excellent. I ordered mutter
adrak ki aloo tikki for an appetizer, which is a small fried potato
cake stuffed with gingered green peas served with garbanzo beans and
tamarind chutney. The potato cakes were light yet still incredibly
flavorful, especially with the garbanzo beans. I sampled some of
Samir's "Spinach 'n' Cheese Salad," which was really just palak paneer
with naan and some corn. The naan was excellent, but I though the palak
paneer was a bit too watery and the cheese could have been higher
quality. We also ordered cholewale samose for the whole group, which
made a very fresh tasting appetizer. <br>
<br>
I would avoid their mango
laasi-- mine was too thin and too sweet, and it tasted like they didn't
add enough yogurt if any at all.<br>
<br>
Overall, I'd characterize Amber
Cafe with a very fresh, light taste-- maybe the Fresh Choice equivalent
of North Indian cuisine. Indian food can get to be really heavy
sometimes with all its yogurt and butter, but Amber Cafe is a
refreshing break from cardiac arrest-inducing fare. The menu is also
very friendly to non-Indians, describing all the items in Western terms.

<p>
The first thing you should know about "Pasta?" is how to say the name.
You need to say it with a question in your voice. For example: <br>
"Where do you want to have dinner tonight?" <br>
"I was thinking we could eat at Pasta?!?"<br>
<br>
Pasta? is a restaurant that you just can't take too seriously. The
menus have a quirky question mark emblazoned on their cover, and the
wait staff is highly amusing and friendly. Be prepared to ponder the
exact nature of the relationship between the maitre d and the water
boy, and smirk when your flamboyant waiter just about professes his
undying love to the birthday girl in your party. Pasta? is mostly
enjoyable not because of the food, but because of its airy and relaxed
ambiance (outdoor seating helps with the "airy" part of the ambiance in
the Mountain View location).<br>
<br>
The pasta (and other menu items) are generally good at Pasta? The
bruschetta was yummy, and the bread the waiters initially brought was
decent, though nothing exceptional. There wasn't that much selection
for me, being a vegetarian, but I found that their gnocchi tastes
particularly good in pesto sauce. I would suggest coming to Pasta? with
a healthy appetite, though, especially if you're going for the gnocchi.
Because while the pasta tasted soft and pillowly for the first couple
of bites, by the time I was halfway through my own bowl of gnocchi I
had sworn off eating altogether. <br>
<br>
Until dessert, that is. Which was delicious. I can't remember exactly what I ordered, but it was some sort of ice <br>
cream dusted in cocoa powder and nuts. It was so good I seriously had to beat my friends off with a fork.<br>
<br>
Pasta? also has a location in downtown Palo Alto on University, I
believe, which is pretty much the same as the Mountain View location
except that it's a bit more cramped and has better (more amusing)
service.<br>
<br>
If you want to eat decently priced Italian food in a comfortable setting, Pasta? is the place to be.<br>

<p>

The burrito here was much hyped, but I have to admit that it failed to satisfy. I ordered the Carne Asada burrito and would have a hard time calling it anything more than "average." The meat itself was both stringy and unflavorful and the rest of the filling was a mish-mash of ingredients indistinguishable but for the fact that they were equally bland. I also thought that the burrito was too large, but that might also be because by the time I was half-way through I didn't feel like finishing anyway. <br /><br />In attempts of salvaging my meal I ordered a "Pupusa", which is a Salvadorean speciality that they serve here. Maybe it was because of the burrito, or maybe because it was equally bad, but the Pupusa also tasted bulky and flavorless. I ate it only for the sake of filling my stomach up.<br /><br />Angie says that I just had a bad experience there and that the food is typically quite good. This may very well be true, and I'm perfectly willing to give it another shot, but until I go again and am proven differently, I stand by my review.<br />
