This is just a short account of my travels back on 10 Feb '08. I know I'm so lucky to be living in this part of the world, none of these images were taken further than 15 km from my front door! A team of over 20 hearty trekkers set off from the base of the peninsula just outside the town of Dunfanaghy to explore the coastal fringe of this spectacular headland. We trekked above Tramore strand (three miles of empty golden sand) past 'Mc Sweeney's Gun' a blow hole in the cliff that used to boom like a cannon but has been silenced by erosion but the spray and the water spout still work!. We walked steadily for over 18 km, reached the highest point in the headland all in glorious sunshine. The temperature was a cool 7 Celcius and with the wind chill that felt more like 2 but the vigourous walk kept us all toasty.

This northcoast is so beautiful, its just on my doorstep, unspoilt and virtually empty of people - toursts or otherwise. We all resolved to do this again next Sunday... just not sure of the new destination. Don't worry I'll keep you posted. Enjoy the pictures, I loved the walk and am ready for bed with a self-satisfied glow on my face and a wee twinge in my right knee!
