This caye wasn't swarmed with fish around it, as they were constructing some buildings for tourists on it, and it scared away the fish. (We were told the fish would return after construction was finished.) It was a very windy stay, but I had the best kayak adventure of them all on this caye. It was very spirited, as a friend and I (in the same kayak), paddled back against the strong winds and waves, 1.5km, none stop, to be the first group back. We felt very proud, as the rest of the group had to stop a few times to catch their breaths. Here, we stocked up on Fanta and Coca Cola, getting ready to head back to mainland in another 2 days.

This caye was more for relaxing than the others, as we were able to just rest on a beautiful dock, watch the sunrise and set, and watch a dog named Oscar catch some lobster and conch while baracuda's swam around. After 2 days at this caye, we headed off to the third caye another 8km trip. On the way we stopped at our guides' friends' caye, a 5km trip, and ate some lunch under a covered dock, before going out on the ocean to spearhunt some fish. Collectively in a group of 14, we only caught 3, 11 inch, bony fish. After that we made a bee-line, 3km kayak trip for the third caye, seeing some amazing fish and rays on the way.

Setting out to the cayes was really amazing. After settling down on the first day, the next was full of adventure. We first all learned to manage a sea kayak, then made a short trip (.5km) to another caye, where we first snorkeled. This is also where we got our first Fanta's of the trip. :) The Next day we packed our tents and our clothes into the kayaks, and traveled to the second caye, an 8km trip. We stopped once, at a caye with more fanta, but this time, it had a beach voleyball court set up, and we also had some lunch here. From the first caye to this one was around 3km. From there we headed straight to the Barrier Reef, the second largest in the world (after the one in Australia), and snorkeled. After snorkeling, we made a little pit stop at another caye, where they had a dock that everybody could jump off into the sea of fish. From the first stop to the other was around 2km. From there we headed for the 2nd caye which we would stay at, distracting ourselves from the long kayak trip with some camp songs like "There Was a Moose" and fully finished "99 Bottles of Beer On A Wall", then sung it backwards. Half way through that song backwards, we made it to the second caye.
