So we get up early and head away to the start of the trail. For those that don´t know the Inca trail consists of about 50km of walking starting off at 2380 metres above sea level and climbing up to 4200 metres above sea level back down to 3600m then up to 4000m before heading down to Macchupicchu, an old inca city. On the way you see plenty of Inca ruins. But i must say we did have porters who carried most of our gear. In fact we were pretty well looked after with 3 cooked meals a day and when we got to our campsite all our tents were already up and there was a hot drink waiting. But was pretty cool. The climb up to Dead Womans Pass was not the easiest thing I´ve ever done but was well worth it.

Macchupicchu and the other ruins are quite amazing, the share size of some them is mind boggling. All built out of rock and terraced. The fourth day when we got to Macchupicchu we were real lucky with the weather was raining the day before and the day after but we managed to get sunshine which helped get some pretty cool pictures. We also managed to climb Waynapicchu which overlooks Macchupicchu. The signs say it should take an hour to get up but with Hamish leading the way we managed to get up in 26mins. Was absolutely knackered once we got up but the view was well worth it.

We then spent the afternoon at the local thermal baths and chilled out and relaxed. We headed back to Cusco the next day and then it was off to the jungle....
