Eurostar Jomtien Beach is a hidden treasure. Although it's location on Soi 1 in Jomtien isn't the greatest due to the construction of another hotel right next door it is still a hidden treasure.

The hotel's luxury is felt once you enter the lobby. It has an on site bar that is open 24hrs a day downstairs and the grill is open late as well. It is a very well maintained establishment. Lobby and pool area are well kept and the room service was fantastic. They would wait for you to go out for the day before cleaning your room so they wouldn't disturb you.

The rooms are quite large and not what you would expect for the price you are paying. Other establishments in the area are quite a bit more and offer less room then the Eurostar. The in room amenities are decent for the rate as well. The amenities are typical of what you will find in any other major hotel. They offer an in room mini bar where prices are reasonable as well as laundry service. I did not try the laundry service but a companion did and it was a rather quick turn around for the items laundered.

I had a Deluxe 4 room during my stay. After a day being there, I asked the staff if I could see one of the Deluxe 1 rooms. The only difference between the two was that the 1 had contained a bath tub rather than just a shower stall. The upgrade wasn't much at all but I was all ready settled into my current room and we were the only ones on the floor.

My stay during the week there was quite as there weren't many other guests in the hotel. It is a small hotel compared to the others but again the price there was unbeatable.
The only downfall to the hotel that I seen was it's small elevators with a very low weight capacity. On average it could hold 3 people but if you try to squeeze in a fourth you will hear the alarm go off.

I enjoyed my brief 4 day stay in the hotel. The staff were always friendly and willing to help us out in any way. After a night out on the town, we would sit at the bar and sing karaoke with the staff and have a great time. They would applaud my non singing abilities and laugh and have a good time with you.

All in all I am looking forward to going back on my next trip. I will stay at the Eurostar again and who knows, maybe I will see you there.

**I do apologize for no in room pictures as my camera broke on me.

I'm not going to write a grand review because it was the least of all the hotels we stayed in, mainly because of the not so friendly personnel there. They were hanging over the counter at the reception like they were having a lunchbreak when we arrived, and service took quite a while. Didn't matter wheter you were in the bar in the lobby or outside.
We stayed there for two days, and also came to the conclusion that if we ever went back we wouldn't be staying there. First day was mostly looking around and going to the beach, and out at night.

Jomtien and the centre of Pattaya closeby were ok. Nice restaurants, plenty of bars and shops, the beach was closeby...so nothing wrong with that. There were a lot of travestites, really funny to see them walking around. And of course old men and 18 year old Thai girls (or older of course), but that's the way of Pattaya as our Thai guide said. Every one has their own reason, so don't judge them....it is hard not to judge the dirty old men though....

Thursday (day 13) we went to the Million Year Stone Park and Crocodile Farm. It was beautiful, the garden was so peaceful. And the farm was a Zoo with a part of it as a Crocodile Farm. It was very nice, very clean. Only sad thing was, well not extremely sad, but you could go on a picture with a tiger, elephant or brown bear. Poor animals were druged from here to Tokio i guess...the bear had to sit up at every picture, the elephants had to lift people up every time....i didn't do it, no matter how much i love tigers this just felt too awkward to do. In the afternoon we went to the beach!! I love the sea, more then pools to be honest.

So I spend two days at the beach. My friend didn't like the beach much and went to the hairdresser instead.... The last day, when we were about to go home, it was a real storm outside. It was raining hard, including thunder and lightning. It got better in the afternoon though...

Anyway we had an ok time in Jomtien/Pattaya, but were glad we could leave again after those few days. It was time to go home.

I stayed at the Ambassador City Jomtien while in Thailand for work in May 2007. It is located approximately 15-20 minutes south of Pattaya (depending on traffic) and within easy reach of many sights. Here is a brief description of the resort from their website.

"4,210 rooms occupying 40 acres of prime beachfront", "worldwide recognized as one of “The Largest Resort Complexes”" & "only ten minutes from the international playground of Pattaya."

Upon arriving however things were not as they had initially seemed. The entire complex was in dire need of a little TLC. A fresh coat of paint on the exterior would have worked wonders. The mold encrusted white walls were ever present but given the jungles and high humidity it was as expected. Many of the facilities were shuttered and had not been open in years. At one point of my stay, all I wanted to do was lounge in the pool and have a couple of alcoholic flavored beverages. Go figure that the only one out of four pools even had the means for a bar. It was a truly disappointing fact of life.

The pictures on the website must have been airbrushed because the room featured on the website was definitely not the one I stayed in. The fourth floor of the Garden Wing is where I called home for my stay. The rooms were generally dark and hadn't been aired out in a LONG time. Musty would be the best description. The décor appeared to be from the 70’s and not changed since then. The television sporadically worked but one could usually watch CNN or the movie channel to their hearts content. Trying to figure out the controls for the TV/ac/lights which were located in the nightstand proved to be entertaining. I won’t even mention the spider web of wires behind it. I will say that I chose not to mess with it fearing for my life though. The shower wasn’t bad as long as you had the time to wait for the water to warm up. God forbid that you were tall since the ceiling was only a few inches above my 5’8” head. Overall the beds appeared to be clean and I didn’t end up with any bites from resident critters.

The restaurants at the resort were ok at best. If you wanted to get in-and-out quickly, go somewhere else. Expediency was definitely not one of their finer virtues. The best places to eat were in Pattaya otherwise nothing was within close proximity (walking distance) to the resort.

If you are coming to this part of Thailand or Pattaya in particular to party…you should just stay in Pattaya. You will be closer to the action and won’t have to deal with the baht buses/taxis to get you back and forth. If you want to relax though, this may be a good place for you. It is a relatively quiet location and the craziness of Pattaya is only a short distance away. The rooms were relatively cheap at a cost of approximately $40-$60 US a night. It was definitely not the Marriot though.
