Sooo, we (Liam, Louis and I) rented a car and headed off to Wine country. After the first wine testing (15 dollar each) I decidet to drive and we found our first camping space in Mc Kerrischer national park.

Ok so we drove for hours today. Went from San Fran over the golden gate to Marin County. I made a pit stop at Duane's ometown of Novato and took some pics of his home since he couldn't be here to see it himself. Then followed the 101 north to Napa Valley and Sonoma county. They're going through an usual hot spell here in Cali, at some points it was over 100 degrees. So to me the area felt alot like texas. The land seemed dried up and the rolling hills weren't full of green life like had been down in San Fran. But it was still gorgeous. The wineries had some amazing flowers and thank god i quit smoking because the smell of fruit and flowers out here is really something to appreciate. We stopped at a winery to have a picnic lunch in the shade. I considered for a split second getting a bottle of sauvignon blanc to go with my gouda cheese sandwich...but I couldn't do it. I'm going on day 3 of no cigarettes and no alcohol, and if i'm going to take this detox trip seriously then no exceptions can be made. So instead I admired the beautty of the place and the sweet sweet grapes that used to bring me such joy and I got back in the car and begrudgingly drove on.

We took highway I 101 to the north to go up to the Wine Country. The first stop was in Petaluma, just to take a quick view, we didn´t find anything interesting there besides their very beautiful Victorian houses. Then we passed by Snoopy´s village, where Charles M. Schulz lived and had his studio.

After that we went to do a nice wine tasting and visit to the caves of Beringer´s brothers winery. I don´t know who we ended up choosing this one because there are just too many wineries in the area, however it was a good choice. I loved their sparkling Zinfandel!. It was too bad that they charged us $15 per person for the visit, to taste 3 types of wines: Sauvignon, Pinot & Zinfandel, and to have a free signature glass. I think they should not charge anything as they do in Europe because everyone or most of the people is going to buy something at the end of the visit.

We also went to St Helena to the Sattui Winery (winery of the year 2006-2007) and bought some nice food for a delightful open air picnic with a marvelous and romantic sunset. Besides their wine production they got very delicious cheeses from all over the world and also a delicatessen so you can have fresh salads, rice, pasta, potatos and different sorts of meat, they also sell plastic dishes, forks, spoons and glasses so you can improvise a good meal, but we warned that they do not allow you to drink other wine that it´s not theirs.

They got this very pretty picnic area with wooden tables and benches surrounded by trees and their old winery buildings, we really liked to have dinner there... despite the cold it was absolutely lovely.

Back in San Francisco at night, we went to have some good German beer up at the top floor of Hotel Hilton, the view from there it´s very enjoyable to have dinner or just a couple of drinks.
