Our member (kamja) Kamila, recently had her review of the Romantic Park in Arkadia, Nieborow, Poland featured. The shot she used included a wonderful picture of an Aqueduct crossing a slow-moving and very reflective river amongst the trees of the forest. It is a wonderful picture. The only shame was that time had done its damage to the structure and had left it in ruins. This was just one of several photos of the Romantic Park.

Founded in 1778 by the Duchess Helena Radziwiłł, the Romantic scenic park in Arkadia is a part of the museum with the seat in Nieborów. Gothic and Renaissance architectural elements were used while constructing park pavilions. The main place of the park is the Diana's Temple erected over the pond. Nearby there is the Archpriest's Temple - an artificial ruin made of stones, bricks and turf iron. You can find more constructions of this type: the Roman Aqueduct, the Count's House with a square tower, the Greek Arch and the Gothic House together with Sybille's Cave built of erratic boulders.

Initially, a Gothic - Renaissance manor house came into being in Nieborów and re - built in form of the Baroque palace towards the end of the 17th c. Over the centuries, the property belonged to many distinguished families: the Radziejowski's, the Lubomirski's and the Ogiński's. In 1774 it came into the property of Michał Hieronim Radziwiłł, one of the richest Polish - Lithuanian magnates, who was a well - known art admirer and a bibliophile. Currently, the palace is the seat of Nieborów Museum including the palace complex together with the surrounding French garden and a nearby Romantic garden in Arkadia.
