New Zealand's original inhabitants are the Maoris who arrived from near  Tahiti in seven large canoes about 1,000 years ago.&nbsp; Like many other countries, New Zealand  is trying to include a minority culture into the nation.&nbsp; The Maoris  seem to be holding on to their traditions and language better than  most, at least in their own villages.&nbsp; In the larger cities, such as  Auckland, its a different story.
