Arrived in Lismore just after lunch to find Angela's rented house on the Bruxner highway and a welcome form her and her two dogs. Tia rushed in to greet them as they are old friends. The beautiful scent of frangipani blossom was amazing and it appeared that every house in her street had a tree. Unloaded a few things then set off to find my sister's place about 25 mins away in rainforesty type of country. Coffee and macadamia plantations are the common crop and the hills are dotted with plots with neat lines of these trees. We were leaving the camper trailer with my sister so that she could use it for extra accommodation for her extended family and we would get a chance to see her new home for the first time.

Spent a few hours drinking chai and chatting. Her small acres on a very steep, forested hill support a few chickens but it is a wildlife preserve and koalas, snakes, birds, a feral cat or two and lots of nasty bitey insects live there too. Back to Lismore to cook a laksa dinner and we find Tia on the outside of the garden fence looking contrite. I ask her what she is doing out and the neighbour who is sitting at his side window trying to catch a cooling breeze cheerfully tells me that she has been running around the roads looking for us and if he had known that she belonged there he would have hoisted her back over the fence. Greatly relieved that she has come to no harm we find the hole in the fence and fix it.

Next day we visit some of the beaches north of Cape Byron that are dog friendly and walk the dogs and swim in the warm waters and Angela shows us her temporary home town.
