My friend and I had a very bad experience at Sueno Azul. After being assaulted a couple of blocks away from the B&B, we had trouble with one of the locks and could not get to our room. We had to spend the night in the lobby after having a terrifying experience. My friend and I are 31 year old librarians from Brooklyn. We organize charitable events on a regular basis and are reasonable people yet one of the owners, Kali, basically said we deserved to be attacked. I asked her to please refund us for one night since we could not access our room. She had the gall to claim we were drunk (we were not) and that we were lying about the door. She made a bad situation much worse. I don't think anyone should support a business that treats people with such disrespect.

In my last visit to Guanajuato, I decided to stay in a different hotel. Since this was my secound time visiting, I kinda had an idea of where I wanted to be nearby. When I arrived to the hotel, I automatically loved the place..! Quite, clean and near the main plaza. The rooms are named by famous poets. We were lucky to get Pablo Neruda! In all, the Mesón de los Poetas will serve you with a combination of charm, uniqueness, calm and a flavor of Guanajuato's artistic atmosphere.

Another must-see town in Mexico. We were absolutely blown away by the beauty of this town. We had a blast here, and even took part in one of Guanajuato's infamous "Callejóneadas." It consisted of a group of folkloric musicians, singing and telling stories, and who were followed by a rather large group of visitors, just having a ball through the tiny streets of Guanajuato. A memorable experience for sure.

Set into a mountain side like Toledo in Spain, Guanajuato is certainly a place you could easily get lost! Full of dead ends, tunnels, museums, market places and bad organ grinding. I visited a large market that my Gran used to go when she visited Mexico, I never met my Gran as she died before I was born, so it was lovely to be somewhere so far from home that I knew my Gran had frequented.
