Although it was a long journey (and a little boring at times - like the long motorways) it was good fun! But wont be doing it again in a hurry!!

To summaries our trip, we hopped on a tour bus this morning after the 'lovely' breakfast we had at the Termini station. Actually, it wasn't that bad because the food was nice only the interior looked dodgy. We were forced to hop on one of the tour buses that were cheaper but stopped at sights every two hours due to the fact that the most popular bus tour and I pressume that the best one had a long line there and we didn't fancy standing there all day. After all, it was our last day in Rome.

The bus went through all the most important sights in Rome and we had an electronic guide telling us about the history. The only thing that really bothered me was the ticket lady who kept jumping in constantly and interupting our tour. So at every sight, we missed part of the guide stories as she would cut in. Very annoying.

So we did the entire tour except for the last stop as we got of at the Trevi Fountain. It was in a tiny square and it took about 3/4 of it. Loads of people everywhere and we threw a coin in. You have to be back to the fountain and throw it with your right hand over your left sholder and that means that you will come back to Rome. :) We then had a lovely ice cream again, yum yum and walked towards the Pantheon. Had a horrid McDonals's for lunch cos of Simon who claimed that he has to have McDonak's in every new place that he visits. After that we just walked around the back streets and went into shops and felt very tired. We still had a few hours so I started hunting for a bracelet to buy. It took hours and I didn't choose any at the end so we went to Termini station to pick up our bags and started hunting for a pub to have a drink at.

Of course we didn't find any and while we were wondering around the station, we felt a bit unsave as the area is a bit dodgy. Anyhow, we found a restaurant with outside seatings so we crashed there, had a few beers and cigarettes and talked about our lovely city break.

Journey home was a bit painful as our flight was delayed and we had to go through more queing but we landed safely at Stanstead airport and got home at 3 am. And had to get up to go to work the next day so a bit of a painful end to our city break.

We took a bus to the closest station called Agnanina so we could take a metro to Temini station which is the main station in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Rome. The bus cost 1 euro, as well as the metro. We were stunned how cheap it was, but I guess after living in London, we naturally would be. We had to walk from the Termini station to our hotel which took about 30 mins max (Rome isn't that big, if you like walking, you can see all the sights by foot but wear comfy shoes, the roads are very bumpy). I really liked the location with loads of lovely little cheese shops and proper Italian restaurants and boutiques. The back roads in Rome are very narrow and jammed with cars parked anywhere that the drivers desire. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I was anxious about our hotel as the latest review that we read was horrible but we got there and were greeted by a nice italian lady who smelled of coffee :) and who showed us to our room, which wasn't exactly 5 star hotel room but was very clean and spacious. I felt very relieved as I didn't exactly want to begin our city break with trying to look for a place to sleep. So we dropped our bags off and decided to go explore Rome.

I recommend staying at this hotel if you want something cheap and close to everything. It was located 15 mins by foot from the Termini station and another 15 mins from the main shopping street called Via del Corso. The room was 20 euros per night and spacious and nice and clean with big window letting in plenty of light. The only thing that might not be to everyones taste was the bathroom which was, I believe, brought in as it looked like one of those toilets that you see next to building sights. However, it was clean, the shower worked really well and it was built in so you wouldn't know that it wasn't part of the room until you've opened the door on it and took a step up to get inside. Trust me, it might sound bad but it wasn't at all, it was a great bargain.
